Mission
The Cultural Council is a council under Brockport Student Government that supports BSG-recognized clubs affiliated with culture, identity, heritage, and community. The Council meets bi-weekly to discuss budgets, general BSG business, upcoming events, collaboration opportunities, and important information that student organizations need to know.

Your participation is important, as your input helps inform how the Council votes on legislation in Senate. Please attend Council meetings to ensure your organization’s voice, needs, and perspectives are represented. Student organizations are also encouraged to attend BSG Senate meetings prior to Council meetings in order to stay informed and engaged in the decision-making process.

The Caribbean Student Association at SUNY Brockport is a student organization created to expand campus and community knowledge about the Caribbean culture. Our mission is to promote cultural diversity, academic excellence, and to give back to society through community services and on campus activity. We will create educational and social programs designed to acknowledge and engage the student body through Caribbean culture in The College at Brockport community and surrounding areas. We will use our Caribbean culture to execute a family structure built for everyone to find their at place here at The College at Brockport to understand community engagement and support.

Mission
As the first Black Student Union (originally named the Black Student Liberation Front aka BSLF) in Brockport we made it our mission to advocate for the specific concerns of the students of African ancestry here at SUNY The College at Brockport. We aim to enlighten students intellectually and culturally, about the experience of people of African ancestry in this African America and the Diaspora; increase our interaction with concurring events in our native homeland, Africa; give all students a deeper understanding of the global system that continually exploits Africans, politically, economically, educationally and socially, the hardships that African Americans constantly face, and suggest ways in which these problems may be alleviated; and spread the philosophy that education is an important element in the struggle for human rights, it is not an end unto itself, but rather is a means to an end. The end is liberation. Helping our people rediscover our true identity and thereby increase our self-respect. “Education is our passport to the future”.
